Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Bicycle Touring Pro travel scholarship!
Established in 2010, the fund seeks to help cyclists under the age of 30 get their start in the wonderful world of bicycle touring. Darren Alff, founder of bicycletouringpro.com, reports receiving nearly 100 applications for the scholarship this year, with entries coming in from 30 different countries.
In total, 21 candidates were selected for support in the form of cash or touring gear. Winners Andie Keough and Timothy Goutos are the proud new owners of two sets of Randonnee panniers and matching Barkeep DLX 9 handlebar bags, donated by Axiom Performance Gear.
Andie is planning a 4-month solo bike tour around Kona, Hawaii. A Kundalini yoga instructor, Andie plans on teaching yoga along her journey on a donation basis to help purchase food and other necessities.
Timothy is planning a bicycle tour through Central America – from San Francisco, CA, to Panama City, Panama. Following the coastline, Timothy will be climbing volcanoes, exploring ancient pyramids, and trekking through jungles along the way.
The whole team here at Axiom would like to wish all travel scholarship winners the best of luck on your travels. We can’t wait to hear more about your adventures!
