Axiom’s Monsoon Pro Tour Pannier: reviewed by arianecdesign.com

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Ariane from Ariancdesign.com recently took our Monsoon Pro Tour panniers out for a test. Right in time for the west coast wet winter welcome – I felt the use of alliteration was appropriate here to brighten a sometimes dreary topic – she had the opportunity to put some miles in with one of our top-end waterproof pannier sets. I could drone on about the technical merits of these panniers, as I have sat through the product meetings about them, but I think her take will be more interesting. If you are considering a good set of panniers, for year-round use than the Monsoon Pro Tour might be just the bags you’ve been looking for. Read her review here.

Axiom Typhoon DLX Pannier review

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Axiom Typhoon BagsRecently, a couple of months ago if you want to get specific, Darren Alff over at bicyclingtouringpro.com gave a set of our panniers a test. Having scored an 8 out of ten, I think it’s safe to say that for the most part he was pretty impressed.

He did have his concerns though, and they are definitely fair concerns. We have addressed some of them on our most recent version of these bags. One of the largest improvements was the attachment system. Our new bags are now using the Rixen & Kaul Vario hooks and the Flip-Lock which are adjustable, secure, versatile and fit pretty much every rack available. Anyway, enough from our side, if you are considering a set of new panniers check out the bicyclingtouringpro.com review first.

Axiom Journey Disc and Rainrunner Fenders Review by EcoVelo.

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Okay, this is actually a review of the Norco Ceres bicycle, but because we were sending the crew at EcoVelo a bike, I managed to have some Axiom gear included with it. We included an Axiom Journey Disc rack, which was selected because of the flexibility of the mounting options it provided. Along for the ride were also a set of Rainrunner Trekk Reflex + disc fenders, our most popular set of fenders because of the mounting options, excellent coverage and safety feature (a 3m reflective stripe on each fender). Well, it’s probably best if you check out the review for yourselves.  Click here to read it.

Axiom Enforce Air Pro Road pump review on bicycletouringpro.com

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Here is a quick blub from the review, visit bicycletouringpro.com for the full deal.

” If you were simply to look at the photo of the bicycle pump below, you would think that this bike pump is no different than any of the other mini-bike pumps you’ve seen in the marketplace. But the Axiom EnforceAir Pro Road is unique in that it is just one pump in a line of pumps from the Axiom brand that come in a miniature size, but performs like that of a full-size floor pump.”

Axiom Phoenix LE Pannier Rack Review

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Thought I would share a recent review of our Axiom Phoenix LE Pannier rack from bicyclesmile.com. Here is a quick excerpt:

“There seem to be hundreds if not thousands of pannier racks on the market these days. Some are purely inexpensive racks to haul the odd thing on, others touch touring racks and, well, the list goes on and on. The Axiom Phoenix LE is an estheticly pleasing rack that looks just at home on any city bike. Sweet and simple.”  Read the full review here.

Phoenix Series: Mercato Shopper Review

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

We recently received a review of our Mercato Shopper. If you want to know more about the Mercato then read on.

“Axiom’s new line of Phoenix bags and panniers lets you head around town in style. The Mercato Shopper’s not exactly a traditional pannier, but does clip onto the side of a bike rack with built-in hooks cleverly hidden in a zippered pouch.” Read the full review.

Sirius Pannier and Phoenix Rack Reviews

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Some of our Axiom gear was recently reviewed by the fine people at Bicycle Times magazine and is featured in their most recent issue – #4. The gear in question, as the title of this post states, are our Sirius waterproof panniers and the new urban-styled Phoenix Rack. Here are a couple of short excerpts.  If you want to pick up a copy of the magazine follow this link or go by your local bike shop or magazine store.

Sirius Pannier Review

“Everything about the $120 Axiom Sirius panniers points to durability. The front, back panels and hood are made from welded tarpaulin. The polyester side panels and bottom are designed with gussets, which help reduce stress on the seams. The tarpaulin material has a thick and waxy plastic feeling and has thus far handled a fair amount of rough handling. Bonus: materials are free of heavy metals and VOC’s (volatile organic compounds). No funky plastic smell either. The straps are reinforced where they are connected to the tarpaulin to prevent tearing away from the bag over time” By Amanda Zimmerman

Phoenix Rack Review

“The first thing one must note about this bike rack is that it sure is pretty, with its slick black alloy deck, elegant curves and sleek lines. The great part is that it’s functional as well. The white powder-coated tubing is slightly thicker than a standard rack, making it a bit sturdier—rated for up to 88lbs. This does make the rack slightly heavier as well (910g), but you can really load up with groceries, camping gear, etc. if need be.”  By Amanda Zimmerman

Here are a couple of reviews our gear has recently received.

Monsoon Pannier Bag

Review by Ryan at bicyclesmile.com

I am lucky to live in a place where monsoons are non-existent, but we do have a good down pour on occasion. I had been looking for a smaller front pannier bag for my city/touring bike and the Axiom Monsoon seemed to fit the bill, so I thought I would try them out and put them through their paces.

Axiom Monsoon Pannier

The first thing noticed is that the 24.8 litres (12.4 litres per side) is a very nice size for a front mounted pannier. In the past I had used another Axiom bag on the front that was about an extra 5 litres in size, and it just seemed too large and bulky. Now the larger bags have made their way to the rear rack and the Monsoon is strapped on the front. Mounting the bags was a lot easier then I had expected… to read the whole review click here

Journey Pannier Rack

Review by Brandon at 1lesscar.com

Cole got this rear rack from Axiom and we threw it on his dad’s Trek 7.3 before our 3 day tour, and it handled the job fine.

Weighing in at a mere 700 grams, this rear rack is super light, but super tough with it’s triple stay design and sweep-back support for panniers. The stay length is adjustable, fitting 26″, 27″, and 700cc sizes. My dbl. sided panniers didn’t show up in time, so i had to rock a single- no problems rack wise, although it did take a little getting used to of riding with an extra 50 or so pounds on one side. Topped off with a tent & sleeping bag, this rack held up great- no complaints. And when I left it, it still looked brand new.

One thing that surprised me- it comes with a lifetime guarantee! With that in hand, I don’t see how you can go wrong. To see the review click here

Other specs:
360mm Stay length
390mm x 150mm Platform area
Available in Black or Silver
Capacity: 70kg/154lbs
